Player

I've looked around, and it's possible to use VIX with player. Are you planning on adding this, cause I'm getting tired of requesting new trial keys for workstation.

Looks like there's a little bit of trivial work involved and some tests to write. I've created http://vmwaretasks.codeplex.com/WorkItem/View.aspx?WorkItemId=4592. No promises in terms of timeframe, but feel free to do the work and send a patch :)

OK, I've got school to deal with, but I'll see if I can work on this at some point. It seems you can use the VIX API natively with player, but I need to see if connecting to workstation then sending commands works if player is being used as the front-end for the virtual machine. Post back soon.

That was ten minutes of work.

Let me know if it works.

Thanks, it works great. I tested powering it on, setting the login credentials, and running notepad. All worked fine, and I'll keep testing and let you know what I find.

Again, thanks for this.
